"Do you hear the people sing?"
PERFORMED ENTIRELY BY STUDENTS
Winner of over 100 international awards and seen by over 65 million people worldwide, Les Misérables is a timeless and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit, featuring one of the most memorable musical scores of all time.
In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Cosette, Valjean's adopted daughter.
Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Boublil and Schönberg’s magnificent score of LES MISÉRABLES includes the songs, “I Dreamed a Dream”, “On My Own”, “Stars”, “Bring Him Home”, “Do You Hear the People Sing?”, “One Day More”, “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables”, “Master Of The House” and many more. Epic, grand and uplifting, this show packs an emotional wallop that will continue to thrill audiences all over the world for many years to come, and HATY are thrilled to be able to bring that magic to Halifax this Autumn.
