Calendar Girls
A Quick look back on this amazing accomplishment..
We were equally thrilled and nervous about the opportunity to produce a third Victoria Theatre show between our usual slots - and that proved a theme of the fantastic Calendar Girls in July. All HAOS shows are a group effort, but few in such an obvious way as this ensemble piece. From the all female stage crew literally holding things together, to the behind the scenes men who took on new roles to allow the safety and comfort of our performers, this was a fully collaborative production.
Our wonderful production team, new to take the helm at HAOS, guided the cast through an intensely personal journey exploring love, loss and what it means to be beautiful. Our audiences were enthralled by the music, the performances, but mostly the story which resonated with so many - leading to those well deserved standing ovations at the end of each show. The 8 girls who braved the stage "without a stitch of clothing on" deserve a special mention for their guts and commitment; we know none of you will ever forget the experience, or the camaraderie and indeed the nightly FULL theatre standing ovations.
On top of all that achievement we were happy to raise a figure in excess of £800 for charity with our very own calendar, featuring our cast. We wouldn't have been able to achieve that without the expert help and dedication of the WI themselves, who selflessly gave up their evenings to support the production front of house. Thank you ladies.
This show attracted audiences who'd never seen a HAOS Production before and we were over the moon to discover many of them booking for our September show. Well done and thank you to everyone who played a part in making that happen.
